Our Programs - FAQs

We offer a number of different physical education programs at the YMCA, including our ED Gym Program, our Mums & Bubs program and our Learning to Swim Program.

The ED Gym program is designed to develop your child’s cognitive and motor skills through a fun set of physical activities that incorporate gymnastics.

Our Mums & Bubs program is fun and engaging. It is a great way for mothers to meet and connect with other mothers, whilst also supporting the healthy physical development of your baby.

Our Learning to Swim program is a dynamic and encouraging swimming program, teaching people of all levels how to swim. We offer a welcoming and non-intimidating introduction into the water for beginner swimmers.

Whilst each of our centres incorporate daily physical activities into their curriculums, the Mums & Bubs, Ed Gym and Learning to Swim programs take place at our YMCA managed recreation and aquatic centres.

Our Mums & Bubs and Ed Gym programs take place in Palmerston at the Palmerston Swimming and Fitness Centre, in Katherine at Henry Scott Recreation Centre and Alice Springs at Kilgariff Recreation Centres.

Our Learn to Swim programs take place in Darwin at the City of Darwin pools – Parap, Nightcliff and Casuarina.

We run our programs multiple times a year according to community demands.

Yes – however, we offer discounts to parents who have a child enrolled at our early learning centres.

Simply enquire through our general ‘enquiry form’/’contact us’ form on this website and we will respond directly to you in response to your query.

Simply let your early learning centre co-ordinator know that you are interested and they will provide you with the details to enrol your child in a program. They will also discuss discounts available to you too.
